Peer to Peer Leadership: Managing Former Colleagues

Being promoted to lead the very team you used to work alongside is one of the hardest transitions in management. Yesterday's workmates and friends are now your direct reports, which strains old relationships and tests your authority. This course helps newly promoted leaders navigate that shift with confidence, resetting relationships fairly while earning respect in their new role.

What you will be able to do

  • Understand the challenges of leading people who were recently your peers.
  • Reset relationships and boundaries with former colleagues fairly.
  • Establish credibility and authority without becoming distant or bossy.
  • Handle friendships, favouritism and perceptions of bias.
  • Give feedback and manage performance among former equals.
  • Manage your own confidence and mindset through the transition.
