Payroll Taxes and Employees Tax Administration

Payroll sits where employment law, benefits and tax collection meet, and errors repeat every month until someone finds them. Employees tax on remuneration, fringe benefit valuation principles, allowances and reimbursements, statutory levies, and the reconciliation process employers are expected to follow.

What you will be able to do

  • Distinguish an employee from an independent contractor for employees tax purposes.
  • Identify which payments to a worker fall within the definition of remuneration.
  • Value common fringe benefits such as company vehicles, housing and low interest loans.
  • Treat travel allowances, subsistence payments and reimbursements according to their nature.
  • Calculate skills development levy and unemployment insurance contributions on the correct base.
  • Complete employer reconciliations and issue employee tax certificates without mismatches.
