Negotiation and Conflict Resolution for Project Managers

Project managers negotiate constantly, over scope, resources, deadlines and money, usually without any formal authority over the people involved. This course builds practical negotiation and conflict resolution skills tuned to the pressures of live projects. Scenarios reflect African project settings where sponsors, contractors, communities and government stakeholders all push in different directions.

What you will be able to do

  • Prepare for negotiations by clarifying interests, options and walk away points.
  • Apply negotiation techniques that protect relationships and project outcomes.
  • Recognise the sources of conflict that recur on projects and address them early.
  • Facilitate difficult conversations between team members and stakeholders.
  • Reach agreements on scope, resources and deadlines that actually hold.
  • Handle deadlocks and escalations without damaging delivery.
