Mine Trauma Care and On Site Emergency Medical Response

Strengthens the on site clinical response to serious injuries at African mines, where distance from hospitals means the first hour of care often decides the outcome. Participants build practical trauma care skills for crush, fall, burn and blast injuries and learn to manage casualties in confined and underground environments. The programme complements rescue teams and mine clinics with frontline life saving capability.

What you will be able to do

  • Apply primary trauma assessment and life saving interventions on site.
  • Manage bleeding, airway, breathing and circulation in injured mine workers.
  • Treat crush, fall, burn and blast injuries typical of mining incidents.
  • Package and extricate casualties from underground and confined areas.
  • Coordinate handover to mine clinics and emergency medical services.
  • Prepare trauma response equipment and stations for the operation.
