Mine Isolation, Lockout and Energy Control for Plant and Machinery

Builds rigorous isolation and lockout discipline for the fixed and mobile plant that maintenance and production crews work on across African mines. Participants learn to identify and control mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and gravitational energy before work begins. The programme targets the stored energy and unexpected start up incidents that cause many serious plant injuries.

What you will be able to do

  • Identify all energy sources associated with mine plant and machinery.
  • Apply isolation, lockout and tagout procedures across energy types.
  • Control stored and residual energy including gravitational and hydraulic.
  • Verify zero energy state before work commences.
  • Manage group isolation and multiple worker lockout systems.
  • Restore energy and return equipment to service safely.
