Load and Haul Equipment Operations Safety

Focuses on the safe operation and supervision of load and haul fleets such as loaders, haul trucks and dump trucks across South African surface and underground mines. Participants examine loading discipline, tip and dump safety, pedestrian interaction and pre use inspections to reduce the equipment related fatalities that remain a leading cause of harm in the sector.

What you will be able to do

  • Identify the hazards associated with loading and hauling operations.
  • Apply safe loading, tipping and dumping procedures on mining benches.
  • Manage pedestrian and light vehicle interaction with heavy machinery.
  • Conduct pre use inspections and defect reporting for haul equipment.
  • Supervise haul road condition and traffic management arrangements.
  • Investigate load and haul incidents and apply preventive controls.
