Lifting, Rigging and Slinging Safety for Mine Workshops

Mine workshops and shafts handle heavy motors, pumps and structural loads where poor rigging leads to dropped loads and fatal crush injuries. This programme develops competence in lifting equipment selection, sling and shackle use, and safe lift planning for workshop and underground tasks. Delegates practise load calculations and inspection routines relevant to mining maintenance.

What you will be able to do

  • Select lifting equipment and slings suited to the load and task.
  • Calculate load weight, angles and sling capacity for safe lifts.
  • Inspect chains, slings, shackles and lifting tackle for defects.
  • Plan and supervise lifts using competent riggers and signallers.
  • Control the lift zone and manage suspended load hazards.
  • Maintain lifting equipment registers and inspection records.
