Leadership for Technical Experts Stepping into Management

Engineers, accountants, IT specialists and other experts are often promoted for technical brilliance, only to struggle when their job becomes leading people. This course bridges that gap for newly appointed technical managers across African industries. Participants learn to shift from doing the work themselves to getting results through others, without losing the credibility their expertise earned them.

What you will be able to do

  • Recognise the mindset shift required when moving from expert to leader.
  • Let go of technical tasks and delegate work to team members effectively.
  • Adapt communication for non technical stakeholders and senior management.
  • Set direction, priorities and standards for a technical team.
  • Coach and develop specialists while managing their performance.
  • Balance ongoing technical involvement with growing leadership responsibilities.
