Laboratory Weighing, Balances and Mass Metrology

A focused programme on achieving accurate, defensible weighing results, from analytical microbalances to bench scales. Participants learn the sources of weighing error, minimum weight determination, environmental influences and routine performance checks that protect the integrity of every downstream analytical result.

What you will be able to do

  • Identify sources of weighing error including buoyancy and static.
  • Determine minimum sample weight and appropriate balance selection.
  • Perform routine user checks, sensitivity tests and eccentricity checks.
  • Control environmental factors affecting balance stability.
  • Handle and store reference weights to preserve their value.
  • Record weighing performance to support data integrity requirements.
