Laboratory Waste Management and Hazardous Substance Disposal

A focused two day course on handling, segregating and disposing of the chemical, biological and sharps waste generated by testing and research laboratories in South Africa. Delegates learn practical segregation, storage, neutralisation and contractor management so that laboratory waste is dealt with safely and in line with environmental duties.

What you will be able to do

Classify laboratory waste streams by hazard and disposal route.
Segregate and store chemical, biological and sharps waste safely.
Apply neutralisation and pre treatment methods for common laboratory chemicals.
Label, document and track waste from generation to final disposal.
Select and manage licensed waste disposal contractors.
Respond to spills and waste related incidents in the laboratory.
