Job Evaluation and Grading Systems

Build defensible job grading structures using recognised job evaluation methodologies applied widely across South African organisations. Delegates evaluate real job descriptions, construct grading bands, and address the internal equity disputes that arise when a grading exercise meets office politics, leaving them able to run or oversee a grading project without outsourcing every decision to a consultant.

What you will be able to do

  • Compare point factor, ranking and classification methods of job evaluation.
  • Write a job description that supports accurate evaluation rather than inflated titles.
  • Score a job against a chosen evaluation methodology consistently and defensibly.
  • Construct grading bands and pay scales from evaluation outputs.
  • Manage grading appeals and internal equity disputes without eroding trust.
  • Maintain a grading structure through organisational change and new roles.
