Investment Portfolio and Money Market Instrument Management

Corporates, pension funds and public entities holding surplus cash must invest it prudently across money market and fixed income instruments. This course covers instrument selection, yield and risk assessment, and portfolio construction within an approved mandate. Practical sessions reflect African money markets, including treasury bills, negotiable deposits and short dated paper.

What you will be able to do

  • Distinguish the main money market and fixed income instruments.
  • Assess yield, credit risk and liquidity of investment options.
  • Construct a short term portfolio within an investment mandate.
  • Match investment tenor to cash flow and liability needs.
  • Measure and report portfolio performance and risk.
  • Apply investment policy, limits and counterparty controls.
