Heap Leach Pad Operations and Solution Management Safety

Covers the safe operation of heap leach facilities used widely in African gold, copper and uranium recovery. Participants learn to manage pad stacking, liner integrity, solution application and pregnant and barren pond hazards. The programme combines geotechnical stability, chemical exposure and environmental containment considerations that keep leach operations safe and compliant.

What you will be able to do

  • Describe heap leach operations and the key safety and environmental risks.
  • Maintain liner integrity and prevent solution leakage and pad instability.
  • Manage stacking, lift construction and slope stability on leach pads.
  • Control reagent dosing, solution application and irrigation hazards.
  • Manage pregnant and barren pond safety and overtopping risk.
  • Monitor containment and respond to leaks and solution releases.
