Hazardous Chemical Substances Handling and Storage in Mining

Mines rely on reagents, fuels, acids and solvents whose safe handling is often overlooked outside the process plant. This programme equips mine teams to classify, store, label and handle hazardous chemical substances across workshops, stores and processing areas. Delegates build a practical chemical management system supported by safety data sheets and spill readiness.

What you will be able to do

  • Classify hazardous chemical substances used across mining operations.
  • Interpret safety data sheets and apply correct labelling systems.
  • Design compliant storage for incompatible and hazardous chemicals.
  • Control handling, decanting and personal protection during chemical use.
  • Prepare spill response and contamination control procedures.
  • Establish a chemical inventory and exposure control programme.
