Haul Road Design, Maintenance and Dust Suppression for Open Pit Mines

Provides practical guidance on designing, building and maintaining safe haul roads for large mining trucks in open pit and surface operations. The course addresses geometry, drainage, running surface, safety berms and effective dust suppression suited to Southern African climates. Delegates learn how road condition drives truck safety, tyre life and haulage productivity.

What you will be able to do

  • Apply haul road geometry, gradient and width design principles.
  • Specify running surface, drainage and safety berm requirements.
  • Plan haul road maintenance routines and inspection schedules.
  • Select and manage dust suppression methods for haul roads.
  • Assess road condition impacts on truck safety and tyre performance.
  • Coordinate traffic and pedestrian controls on haul routes.
