Grievance Handling and Workplace Investigations

A poorly handled grievance or investigation can turn a manageable issue into litigation, low morale and reputational harm. Delegates learn to run fair, thorough and well documented grievance processes and workplace investigations into misconduct, harassment and dishonesty. The programme reflects South African procedural fairness requirements and the practical pressures of gathering evidence at work.

What you will be able to do

  • Distinguish grievances, disputes and misconduct investigations and their processes.
  • Run a structured grievance procedure that meets procedural fairness standards.
  • Plan and scope a workplace investigation with clear terms of reference.
  • Gather, weigh and document evidence and interview witnesses fairly.
  • Handle sensitive matters such as harassment and whistleblowing with discretion.
  • Write an investigation report with defensible findings and recommendations.
