Greenhouse Gas Inventory and Carbon Footprint Accounting

Investors, customers and regulators increasingly expect African organisations to measure and report their carbon footprint credibly. This programme teaches the practical mechanics of building a greenhouse gas inventory across direct, purchased energy and value chain emissions. Delegates work through boundary setting, emission factors and calculation methods so they can produce defensible figures that stand up to scrutiny.

What you will be able to do

  • Define organisational and operational boundaries for a greenhouse gas inventory.
  • Classify emissions into direct, purchased energy and value chain scopes.
  • Collect activity data and apply appropriate emission factors.
  • Calculate a carbon footprint using recognised accounting principles.
  • Document assumptions and manage data quality for assurance readiness.
  • Interpret results to identify reduction priorities and set targets.
