Grant and Donor Funding Fraud Investigation for NGOs

Development and humanitarian organisations across Africa handle large donor funds under intense compliance scrutiny, making grant fraud a serious reputational and funding threat. This course helps NGO and programme staff detect and investigate misuse of grant and donor funding. Delegates work through inflated claims, ghost beneficiaries, procurement diversion and how to respond to donor investigation and reporting requirements.

What you will be able to do

  • Recognise common grant fraud schemes including inflated claims and ghost beneficiaries.
  • Detect procurement diversion and collusion in donor funded projects.
  • Investigate expenditure, receipts and beneficiary records for irregularities.
  • Apply donor rules on fraud reporting, cost recovery and disallowed costs.
  • Preserve evidence and manage sensitive investigations in field settings.
  • Strengthen grant controls and safeguard future funding relationships.
