Gas Turbine and Turbomachinery Maintenance

Gas turbines and large turbomachinery drive power generation and heavy process duties in African plants, where a single trip can cost enormous production. Maintaining these high speed machines demands specialised knowledge of clearances, balancing and condition monitoring. This programme prepares experienced technicians and engineers to plan and execute turbomachinery maintenance and to interpret the condition data that governs intervention.

What you will be able to do

  • Describe the construction and operation of gas turbines and large turbomachinery.
  • Interpret vibration, temperature and performance data to assess machine condition.
  • Plan inspection intervals around running hours, starts and duty.
  • Manage clearances, alignment and balancing during major maintenance.
  • Diagnose common turbomachinery problems and their root causes.
  • Prepare and control major overhauls and outages on critical machines.
