Financial Crime, Anti Money Laundering and Sanctions Compliance

South Africa's continued presence on international grey lists has pushed banks and corporates to tighten customer due diligence and transaction monitoring well beyond previous practice. This course covers the Financial Intelligence Centre Act obligations, sanctions screening, suspicious transaction reporting and the practical steps organisations need to satisfy regulators and correspondent banks alike.

What you will be able to do

  • Explain reporting institution obligations under the Financial Intelligence Centre Act.
  • Apply customer due diligence and enhanced due diligence to higher risk clients.
  • Screen transactions and counterparties against sanctions and politically exposed person lists.
  • Identify red flags that require suspicious transaction reports to the FIC.
  • Assess the impact of grey listing on correspondent banking relationships.
  • Design a risk based compliance programme proportionate to organisational exposure.
