Environmental Incident Response and Pollution Emergency Management

A spill, leak or emission event can cause lasting environmental damage and heavy regulatory penalties if it is handled slowly or badly. Delegates learn to build and rehearse an environmental emergency response capability that stands up under pressure.

What you will be able to do

  • Classify types of environmental incidents and their potential consequences.
  • Establish roles, escalation and command for pollution emergencies.
  • Apply containment and control techniques for spills to land, water and air.
  • Meet notification and reporting obligations to authorities and stakeholders.
  • Manage clean up, waste handling and site restoration after an incident.
  • Develop and test an environmental incident response plan.
