Environmental Compliance and Waste Management for Industry

Environmental authorisations, waste licensing and incident reporting sit with people who often received no formal grounding in them. This course works through the duty of care under the National Environmental Management Act, waste classification and disposal, contractor control, and how to prepare for an inspection without panic.

What you will be able to do

  • Explain the general duty of care and how it attaches to directors, managers and contractors.
  • Classify waste streams correctly and select lawful storage, transport and disposal routes.
  • Maintain waste manifests, disposal certificates and records that stand up to an external inspection.
  • Screen new projects and plant changes for authorisation and impact assessment requirements.
  • Investigate and report environmental incidents and spills within the required timeframes.
  • Run an internal environmental compliance audit and close findings with evidence.
