Energy Performance Contracting and ESCO Project Development

Many African organisations want to cut energy costs but lack the capital to fund efficiency upgrades upfront. Energy performance contracting allows an energy services company to finance, install and guarantee savings that repay the investment over time. This programme shows delegates how to structure, procure and manage these contracts, from baseline setting to shared savings models, so that facilities and public buildings can modernise without straining budgets.

What you will be able to do

  • Explain how energy performance contracting shifts investment and savings risk between the client and the service provider.
  • Establish a defensible energy baseline against which guaranteed savings will be measured.
  • Compare shared savings, guaranteed savings and chauffage models for different facility types.
  • Structure procurement and tender documents that protect the client while attracting credible providers.
  • Manage the delivery, verification and dispute stages of a performance contract over its full term.
  • Build a business case that persuades finance teams and boards to approve an ESCO arrangement.
