Delegation and Empowerment for Managers

Many South African managers hold onto tasks that should be delegated, either from habit or a fear of losing control, which limits both their own capacity and their team's growth. This practical course teaches managers how to delegate with clear briefs, appropriate authority and follow up, freeing their time for higher value work while developing a more capable, confident team.

What you will be able to do

  • Distinguish between tasks that should be delegated and those that require direct management.
  • Brief tasks clearly, including scope, authority, deadlines and expected standards of quality.
  • Match delegated tasks to each team member's current skill and confidence level.
  • Set up follow up checkpoints that support without slipping into micromanagement.
  • Handle delegated tasks that go wrong without abandoning the delegation approach.
  • Use delegation deliberately as a tool for developing future successors.
