Decision Making and Problem Solving for Managers

Managers in South African organisations make dozens of decisions each day under pressure, incomplete information and competing stakeholder demands. This course gives participants a practical toolkit of structured decision-making and problem-solving methods so they can move from gut reaction to reasoned judgement. Delegates learn to frame problems clearly, weigh options against evidence, and commit to choices they can defend to teams and executives.

What you will be able to do

  • Distinguish between symptoms and root causes when diagnosing operational and people problems.
  • Apply structured decision frameworks to weigh options against cost, risk and organisational priorities.
  • Reduce common thinking traps such as bias, groupthink and analysis paralysis in day-to-day decisions.
  • Involve the right people at the right level to build ownership and speed up implementation.
  • Use simple data and evidence to support and justify management decisions.
  • Build a personal decision log to review outcomes and sharpen future judgement.
