Credit Management, Debt Collection and Bank Funding Negotiation

Debtor days stretch when interest rates stay high and customers push payment out to protect their own cash. Credit teams set scoring and limit policy, tighten terms and security, run a collection process that holds up in court, and prepare the numbers a bank asks for when funding is requested.

What you will be able to do

  • Assess a customer using financial statements, trade references and credit bureau information.
  • Set credit limits and payment terms that reflect the risk and the margin on the account.
  • Draft credit application, suretyship and cession documents that are enforceable.
  • Run a collections cycle from reminder through demand to legal handover and write off.
  • Report on debtor days, ageing and provisioning in a way that management can act on.
  • Prepare a funding proposal and negotiate facility terms and covenants with a bank.
