Councillor Induction and Effective Political Oversight
This course orients newly elected and serving councillors to their governance, oversight and representative roles without straying into administration. Participants learn to read budgets and performance reports, hold the administration accountable through the correct structures, and separate the political and administrative interface. The programme is grounded in the accountability challenges facing African local government, including the misuse of oversight and confusion over councillor powers.
