Conveyor and Bulk Materials Handling Maintenance

Conveyor stoppages halt entire mining and bulk handling operations, so belt, idler and drive maintenance carries outsized production risk on African sites. This programme covers belt tracking, splicing, idler and pulley maintenance, and drive system care, equipping maintenance teams to keep long overland and in plant conveyor systems running with fewer unplanned stops.

What you will be able to do

  • Explain conveyor system components and how they interact under load.
  • Diagnose belt mistracking and misalignment and apply correct tracking adjustments.
  • Inspect and replace idlers, pulleys and bearings using safe work procedures.
  • Describe belt splicing methods and the inspection points that indicate splice failure.
  • Maintain conveyor drive systems including gearboxes, couplings and braking devices.
  • Apply housekeeping and spillage control practices that reduce fire and mechanical risk.
