Conflict Resolution and Difficult Conversations for Managers

Unresolved conflict quietly erodes trust, productivity and morale in teams across South African workplaces, yet many managers avoid the difficult conversations needed to address it. This course builds practical skills for identifying the root causes of workplace conflict and holding direct, respectful conversations that resolve issues before they escalate into grievances or disciplinary matters.

What you will be able to do

  • Identify the underlying causes of common workplace conflicts before they escalate.
  • Prepare for a difficult conversation using a clear, structured approach.
  • Use active listening and neutral language to defuse tense discussions.
  • Mediate disputes between team members while remaining fair and impartial.
  • Address conflict linked to cultural, language or personality differences sensitively.
  • Know when to escalate a conflict to human resources or a formal process.
