Community Development Workers and Frontline Service Coordination

This course develops community development workers and frontline officials who form the daily link between the municipality and residents. Participants learn to gather community needs, coordinate referrals across departments and spheres of government, and resolve service complaints before they escalate. The programme reflects the African reality that frontline workers are often the face of local government in underserved communities and carry high expectations with limited authority.

What you will be able to do

  • Explain the role of community development workers in local government.
  • Gather and document community needs and service delivery issues.
  • Coordinate referrals and cases across municipal departments and other spheres.
  • Resolve service complaints and manage community expectations constructively.
  • Support public participation, ward committees and community structures.
