Cold Chain and Refrigerated Transport Management

Prepares transport teams to move temperature sensitive goods such as fresh produce, dairy, meat and pharmaceuticals without spoilage. The course covers reefer unit operation, temperature monitoring and the record keeping expected by retailers and health inspectors. It reflects South African conditions, including long rural hauls, unreliable power at loading points and strict supermarket cold chain requirements.

What you will be able to do

  • Explain how refrigerated units maintain product temperature across long distance hauls.
  • Set and monitor temperature targets for different product categories.
  • Operate temperature loggers and interpret readings for compliance records.
  • Manage loading, pre cooling and door discipline to protect the cold chain.
  • Respond to reefer breakdowns and temperature excursions to limit product loss.
  • Maintain cold chain records that satisfy retailers and food safety inspectors.
