Climate Smart Agriculture and Food System Resilience

African farming systems face erratic rainfall, heat stress and degrading soils that threaten yields and food security. This programme introduces climate smart practices that raise productivity, build resilience and reduce emissions on farms and across supply chains. Delegates learn to assess climate risks and design interventions suited to smallholder and commercial contexts alike.

What you will be able to do

  • Explain how climate change affects crop, livestock and water systems in Africa.
  • Describe climate smart practices for soil, water and crop management.
  • Assess climate risks and vulnerabilities for a farming operation or region.
  • Evaluate practices that reduce agricultural emissions and build carbon in soils.
  • Integrate resilience measures into farm planning and value chains.
  • Develop a climate smart action plan for an agricultural context.
