Bulk Emulsion Explosives Plant Operations and Handling

Prepares plant operators and supervisors to run bulk emulsion explosives manufacturing and delivery systems safely at open pit and large scale Southern African mines. The programme covers raw material handling, emulsion production, pump trucks, sensitising and quality control. Strong focus is placed on process hazards, contamination control and safe delivery to the blast block.

What you will be able to do

  • Explain the bulk emulsion explosives process from raw materials to delivery.
  • Operate emulsion plant equipment and pump trucks within safe parameters.
  • Control contamination, temperature and sensitising during production.
  • Apply quality checks that confirm product performance and stability.
  • Manage process hazards, runaway reactions and emergency shutdown.
  • Coordinate safe delivery and charging at the blast block.
