Boiler Water Treatment and Chemical Dosing for Plant Operators

Scale, corrosion and carryover from poor water treatment quietly destroy boilers and steam systems on African industrial sites, driving up fuel costs and shortening equipment life. This programme gives operators and maintenance staff a practical grounding in boiler water treatment. Delegates learn why water is treated, how to run dosing and blowdown correctly and how to interpret water tests to keep boilers efficient and reliable.

What you will be able to do

  • Explain how untreated water causes scale, corrosion and carryover in boilers.
  • Describe common treatment methods and the role of each dosing chemical.
  • Carry out routine boiler water and feedwater testing correctly.
  • Interpret test results and adjust dosing to keep water within limits.
  • Operate blowdown to control dissolved solids without wasting energy.
  • Recognise water related problems and their effect on boiler reliability.
