Belt, Chain and Coupling Maintenance for Drive Systems

Belt drives, chain drives and couplings connect motors to almost every machine on an African plant, yet they are often installed and tensioned poorly. This hands on programme covers the correct selection, fitting, tensioning and alignment of these drive components so they run cool, quiet and long. Delegates practise the techniques that eliminate premature belt, chain and coupling failures.

What you will be able to do

  • Describe how belts, chains and couplings transmit power and fail.
  • Select and fit V belts, synchronous belts and roller chains correctly.
  • Tension belts and chains to the correct values.
  • Fit and align flexible and rigid couplings accurately.
  • Diagnose wear, misalignment and tension problems in drives.
  • Set up inspection routines that extend drive component life.
