Anti-Money Laundering and Financial Crime Risk Management

Builds practical capability to identify, assess and report money laundering, terrorist financing and sanctions risk under the Financial Intelligence Centre Act, reflecting the ongoing tightening of South Africa's regulatory environment. Covers customer due diligence, transaction monitoring, suspicious transaction reporting and the obligations that apply to banks, accountants, estate agents and other regulated sectors.

What you will be able to do

  • Explain accountable institution obligations under the Financial Intelligence Centre Act.
  • Apply risk based customer due diligence including enhanced due diligence measures.
  • Identify red flags associated with money laundering and terrorist financing.
  • Draft a suspicious transaction report suitable for submission to the regulator.
  • Assess sanctions screening and politically exposed person identification processes.
  • Design an anti money laundering compliance programme appropriate to the organisation's risk.
