Analytical Method Development and Validation

New products, changing feedstocks and tightening regulations regularly require African laboratories to develop or adapt analytical methods rather than rely on standard procedures alone. This course guides analysts and method development chemists through a structured approach to method development, validation parameters such as accuracy, precision and linearity, and the documentation needed to defend a method to auditors and regulators.

What you will be able to do

  • Explain the stages of analytical method development from feasibility to finalisation.
  • Design experiments that establish accuracy, precision, linearity and range for a new method.
  • Determine limit of detection and limit of quantitation for trace level methods.
  • Assess method robustness and ruggedness under realistic operating variations.
  • Compile validation reports and supporting data that withstand audit scrutiny.
  • Plan revalidation activities when methods, instruments or matrices change.
