Agile Product Owner and Backlog Management

The product owner sits between the business that wants results and the team that has to build them, and a weak backlog quietly wastes both. This course equips product owners to shape a clear product vision, write user stories that developers can act on, and keep a prioritised backlog that reflects real business value. Examples are drawn from digital and service delivery teams across African banks, telcos and public agencies.

What you will be able to do

  • Define a product vision and roadmap that connects delivery work to business outcomes.
  • Write user stories and acceptance criteria that teams can estimate and build.
  • Prioritise a backlog using value, risk and effort rather than the loudest voice.
  • Facilitate backlog refinement and sprint planning that keeps the team focused.
  • Balance stakeholder requests against team capacity without over committing.
  • Measure delivered value and adjust the backlog as the business learns.
