Water and Sewer Reticulation Design and Construction for Townships

New housing and township developments live or die on reliable water and sewer networks below the ground. This course takes delegates through the design principles and construction of reticulation networks that connect stands to the bulk system. It is set firmly in the African context of rapid settlement growth, mixed ground conditions and the need for affordable, maintainable networks.

What you will be able to do

  • Apply hydraulic principles to size water and sewer reticulation.
  • Read and set out reticulation drawings on site.
  • Select pipe materials, bedding and jointing for conditions.
  • Supervise trenching, laying and backfill to specification.
  • Construct manholes, connections and network fittings correctly.
  • Test, disinfect and commission networks before handover.
