Built Environment Procurement and Contract Administration

The choice of standard form contract changes how risk sits between employer and contractor, and how payment, variations and disputes are handled once work starts. The content follows a building project from procurement strategy and tender adjudication through to certification, payment and final account.

What you will be able to do

  • Select a procurement route that suits the scope, funding and risk profile of a project.
  • Compile tender documents that price the work fairly and reduce later argument.
  • Evaluate and adjudicate tenders using stated criteria including preference point scoring.
  • Compare the risk allocation and administrative machinery of the common standard form agreements.
  • Administer variations, compensation events, payment certificates and completion milestones.
  • Close out a contract through defects liability, retention release and the final account.
