Warehouse Management and Distribution Centre Operations

Warehouses and distribution centres are the physical heartbeat of any supply chain, yet in many South African operations they run on habit rather than design. This course equips warehouse and store teams to lay out space efficiently, control receiving and dispatch, manage picking accuracy and keep goods moving without loss or damage. Delegates work through practical scenarios drawn from retail, manufacturing and public sector storerooms across the region.

What you will be able to do

  • Design warehouse layouts that shorten travel time and improve space utilisation.
  • Control receiving, put away, picking and dispatch to reduce errors and delays.
  • Apply stock location and slotting techniques that speed up order fulfilment.
  • Manage warehouse safety, housekeeping and stock protection against loss and damage.
  • Measure warehouse productivity using throughput, accuracy and utilisation indicators.
  • Plan labour and equipment resources to match seasonal demand patterns.
