Traffic Management and Vehicle Pedestrian Safety on Site

Forklifts, delivery trucks and mobile plant sharing space with people on foot cause a steady stream of serious injuries in warehouses, yards and construction sites. This course teaches how to separate vehicles from pedestrians, design safe traffic routes, and control reversing, loading and blind spots. Delegates develop a practical traffic management plan for a yard or site layout, drawing on conditions common to South African logistics and industrial operations.

What you will be able to do

  • Identify the points where vehicles and pedestrians conflict on a typical site.
  • Design one way systems, walkways and crossing points that separate people from plant.
  • Control high risk activities such as reversing, coupling and loading.
  • Specify signage, barriers, lighting and speed controls suited to the site.
  • Manage the interface between visiting drivers, contractors and site staff.
  • Develop and communicate a site traffic management plan that crews will follow.
