Storage Racking Inspection and Safe Stacking Practices

Collapsed racking and toppled stacks injure workers and destroy stock, usually after months of small forklift knocks and overloading that nobody logged. This course teaches how to inspect pallet racking, grade damage and enforce safe stacking so that a warehouse stays standing under load. Examples use the adjustable pallet racking, cantilever and block stacking arrangements common in African distribution centres and stores.

What you will be able to do

  • Explain how racking is loaded and why uprights and beams fail.
  • Inspect racking components and grade damage using a traffic light system.
  • Enforce load notices, weight limits and correct pallet placement.
  • Apply safe stacking and block storage rules to prevent collapse.
  • Manage forklift and pedestrian interaction around racking aisles.
  • Set up a racking inspection routine and damage reporting process.
