Scenario and Sensitivity Analysis for Financial Forecasting

In volatile African economies where currencies, fuel prices and demand swing sharply, a single point forecast is almost always wrong. This course teaches finance teams to build forecasts that flex, testing how outcomes change under different assumptions and shocks. Participants learn to run scenario and sensitivity analysis, identify the drivers that matter most and give leaders a realistic range rather than false precision.

What you will be able to do

  • Explain why single point forecasts fail in uncertain conditions.
  • Identify the key drivers and assumptions behind a forecast.
  • Build best case, base case and worst case scenarios.
  • Run sensitivity analysis to see which variables matter most.
  • Stress test forecasts against realistic economic shocks.
  • Present a forecast range and its implications to decision makers.
