Scaffolding Inspection and Access Systems Management

Scaffolds and access systems are used by nearly every trade on a site, so a poorly erected structure puts many workers at risk at once. This course builds the practical knowledge to specify, inspect and manage access scaffolds, mobile towers and other temporary access on South African sites. Participants focus on load class, ties, platforms and the inspection routine that keeps a scaffold safe in use.

What you will be able to do

  • Distinguish between the main types of scaffold and access systems.
  • Interpret load classes, ties and bracing requirements for a scaffold.
  • Inspect a scaffold before handover and during its use.
  • Manage scafftag control and the handover of access structures.
  • Assess mobile towers, ladders and elevated work platforms.
  • Record inspections and act on defects and unsafe alterations.
