Safety Management for Events and Temporary Structures

Concerts, exhibitions, sporting fixtures and conferences bring large crowds together around temporary staging, marquees and electrical installations that are erected and struck within days, leaving little margin for a missed inspection. This course covers crowd modelling, temporary structure inspection, emergency and medical planning, and the coordination needed between organisers, contractors and local authorities before an event opens its gates.

What you will be able to do

  • Estimate crowd capacity and design entry, exit and circulation arrangements for an event site.
  • Inspect temporary structures including staging, marquees and seating before handover.
  • Coordinate emergency and medical planning appropriate to the expected crowd profile.
  • Manage electrical and fire safety arrangements specific to temporary event installations.
  • Assign clear safety responsibilities between organisers, contractors and venue owners.
  • Compile an event safety plan that satisfies local authority and municipal requirements.
