Safety Leadership and Behaviour Based Safety

Safety statistics improve when supervisors change how they lead on the floor, not when another poster goes up in the canteen. This course covers visible felt leadership, structured safety conversations, behaviour observation techniques and the difference between a genuine safety culture and a compliance culture that only performs well the week before an audit.

What you will be able to do

  • Distinguish a genuine safety culture from a compliance culture built around audit performance.
  • Conduct a structured safety conversation that changes behaviour rather than assigning blame.
  • Apply behaviour based safety observation techniques on the shop floor or site.
  • Model visible felt leadership during routine walkabouts and toolbox talks.
  • Address at risk behaviour consistently across shifts, contractors and management levels.
  • Build a leading indicator dashboard that predicts risk rather than only counting past incidents.
