Procurement Fraud Prevention and Ethics

Procurement remains one of the highest risk functions for fraud, collusion and conflicts of interest in both public and private sector organisations across Africa. This course helps procurement and internal audit staff recognise common fraud schemes such as bid rigging, ghost suppliers and invoice fraud, and equips them with practical controls, red flags and reporting procedures to protect the organisation.

What you will be able to do

  • Recognise common procurement fraud schemes and collusion patterns.
  • Identify red flags in supplier registration and bid documentation.
  • Apply segregation of duties to reduce fraud opportunities.
  • Investigate suspected procurement irregularities using a structured approach.
  • Design controls that deter bid rigging and ghost supplier schemes.
  • Report ethics breaches through appropriate whistleblowing channels.
