Personal Protective Equipment Selection and Management

Personal protective equipment programmes often fail quietly through the wrong glove for the chemical in use, a respirator issued without a fit test, or a replacement schedule nobody tracks. This course builds a defensible selection process linked to risk assessment, covers fit testing and inspection routines, and addresses the supply chain and budget issues that undermine compliance on real sites.

What you will be able to do

  • Link personal protective equipment selection directly to documented risk assessment findings.
  • Select gloves, respiratory protection, eye protection and footwear appropriate to specific hazards.
  • Conduct a respirator fit test and interpret the result correctly.
  • Establish an inspection, replacement and record keeping schedule for issued equipment.
  • Address common causes of non-compliance including comfort, availability and supervision gaps.
  • Evaluate suppliers and standards references when specifying new protective equipment.
