OSINT and Open Source Investigation Techniques

Publicly available information can reveal how exposed an organisation is and support investigations into fraud, threats and misinformation. This course teaches structured open source intelligence methods for security, risk and investigation teams. Participants gather and verify information ethically using scenarios relevant to African businesses and public bodies.

What you will be able to do

  • Plan open source investigations with clear objectives and legal boundaries.
  • Search and collect information across web, social and public record sources.
  • Verify the authenticity and reliability of gathered information.
  • Assess an organisation's own digital exposure from an attacker perspective.
  • Preserve and document findings for reporting and potential proceedings.
  • Apply ethical and privacy considerations throughout the investigation process.
